“If you don’t build your dream, someone will hire you to help build theirs.” Tony Gaskinputs it perfectly in today’s scenario, where people find it difficult to fit in, and living with the fear of rejection makes it more formidable to discover what you love to do.
Don’t let the family business be a way of avoiding a difficult job hunt or chasing your dream. I understand there is a heavy emotional overlay that makes it hard to remain objective and rational. But, if you can manage to bootstrap this load, then no matter what happens you will not only enjoy it, but grow with it and learn from it.
With over 15 years of experience in real estate, it wasn’t easy for me to move out of my family business. My mental obstacles made it more strenuous. But the surge to not compromise on my dreams, the desire to explore myself, my passion made me take a leap outside of my comfort zone. This decision came with many hindrances, high-flying risks, immense pressure and fear, but at-least it made me see myself more clearly. I don’t share my regrets, just the lessons learnt.
Once you become successful, you will get everything you wanted in life. Unfortunately this rarely happens, but that does not mean you are a failure. Because falling is down is part of one’s life and getting back up is living!
