There is always a normal lengthy list of things that are expected from us over the period of our existence. And so over the years we tend to form a shell without a distinguished desire, ambition, or an individual identity except that which has been created and stored for us to exploit. Your entire life packed in building the family business, its verticals and the employees. This for obvious reasons becomes overwhelming, pressurizing and difficult to maintain most of the time. Rather than blindly chasing someone else’s dreams, it is significant to identify ones ‘True Calling’.
One tends to mull over the value and risks inherent in staying or leaving the family’s age-old enterprise. It is not always bad to move out of your comfort zone. There is no denying that one would suffer a loss but nevertheless it’s where your journey begins. If you don’t aim for anything, you might not hit anything. It always helps to maintain a road map of your goal, not only does it provide long-term direction and guidance, but it also gives you the inspiration and the necessary energy to keep going when you are feeling lost.
It is vital to recognize that X factor within us. There is always something that we excel in and if we identify, work, and use it to our advantage, then we can attain the heights of success and ultimately marks happiness to our existence.
So, how often one is willing to tread the untrodden path is a question to be asked within! This reminds me of famous quote from the poem of Robert Frost, “Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the less traveled one and that marked the difference in my life.” Have fun following your dream, enjoy the journey, move beyond that social pressure and more importantly get a LIFE!
