Whenever I don’t feel up to the mark, I recall a set of names that are carefully listed at the top of my mind. Now these may just be names for others, but for people like us it is the source that gets us going. These are the names of those people whose diligence, persistence, hard work and creation in today’s world made them what they are today. It’s not the Tata’s, Birla’s, Mittal’s that have been heard and written about numerous times, whose success stories have even been passed down through our ancestors . It’s those people who made everything out of nothing.
I am sure you have heard about Bhavish Aggarwal, whose appetite to become an entrepreneur was so strong that, he started an online holiday and tour planning service while working full time, before changing that into OlaCabs. It was his far sightedness that saw the potential of a cab booking service that he changed his business from his earlier start-up to the one we fondly know today. Deepinder Goyal, the creator of India’s most trusted online food guide Zomato. This powerful brand is synonymous globally with a presence in 11 countries listing 204,500 + restaurants. Venkatesh Iyer, the man who epitomised Mumbai’s most scrumptious food item into a national food chain as Goli Vada Pav. This need arose to establish an Indian brand in the list of products consumed on a daily basis.
It never ceases to amaze me how these people with humble beginnings and no magical shortcuts could fulfil their dreams and passion. The fact that they all come from an array of professions, circumstances, niches and places fascinates me. If you notice, most of these entrepreneurs share a classic example of self belief. They had a problem, they were confident enough to find a solution. A true entrepreneur is one who can sense the gap between demand and supply. They come up with an idea, take up the challenge, learn from their mistakes but eventually make it happen. They kept eyes and ears open more than their mouth.
Many more such names can be listed, because there is no dirth of them. Such people don’t just exist, they live. The world is full of infinite possibilities and countless opportunities, it is integral to find what you’re searching for and make your mark on the world. Find something you like to do and just do it. That’s how real entrepreneurs always start. That’s how I started.
